You can adopt a Polar Husky at any time.

By making a $60 donation to the University of Minnesota, your name (or that of your class) is added to a list of proud sponsors and you will receive an official Polar Husky adoption certificate for your Polar Husky in the mail.

All of us at Team GoNorth! think it's very important to travel! Going to new places is unbelievably interesting, very rewarding, and creates memories that you will have for the rest of your life.

Seeing all kinds of new things, places, and people can also change your world. You might discover a new food you love, or learn about a place's history that is really fascinating to you. You might learn to see people who are different from you as people who would be really interesting to get to know, instead of avoiding them. So traveling makes you more open to trying new things, which makes you more tolerant!

Do you think it is important to travel?

Polar Huskies, just like people, come in all kinds of colors (with all kinds personalities, sizes, likes and dislikes...)!

After surveying Team GoNorth!, it seems that we all would like to be whatever color we were born with. After all, all of the Polar Huskies are important, and they are all different. But they still all try to get along with each other and to do their jobs as part of a team, despite their differences.

So whether it's fur we're talking about here or something else, we like the traits we are born with and try to use our strengths to make our world better!

If you were a Polar Husky, what color would you be?

Without a doubt, our favorite part of exploring is meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, and learning lots!

It is so cool to meet new people who live in a way that is completely different from us. It is fascinating to see how they live their lives!

And although everything is so different when we experience new people, their language, food, traditions, and everything else about their amazing culture, we realize that, despite all the differences, we are all really more alike than we sometimes realize. Some of us may live in a portable, round house made out of sealskin and some of us may live in the city and have never even been camping- but we all need food, shelter, hope, and love. So this helps us be even more tolerant, accepting, and welcoming of new people and experiences!

What is your favorite part of the expedition?

The quick answer is: We don't.

We either heat up our food to eat it or we simply eat it frozen, attempting to warm things (like Clif Bars) in our mouths. At times it is rather challenging.

How do you keep your food from freezing?

The weather and the landscape were not what I expected. The weather was around 20F or so, but the winds were very strong! Also, there was more snow and trees than I have ever seen in the Arctic.

I always love traveling. The flight was around 8 hours, which wasn't too bad, but it is things like the language and the people I truly love.

Sure. There are certain things that one misses. However, the beauty of the Arctic and the people of the Arctic is always motivating.

:-)...I love it! Well, what you make sure you always do is plan ahead. The reason the GoNorth! projects have been successful is that the team works together to plan everything accordingly. Thus, I don't think we will ever run out of these goods. Think about when you are planning for weekend camping trip and times that by 4 or 6 months!
