Minnesota has cooled down again. Snow! yesterday morning in Twin Cities, with northern Minnesota having up to 10 inches of snow. That should keep us "cool" here, eh?

Hi Mom,
This week I have been spending my afternoons laying out on the deck - YEA! I love to watch the squirrels, birds, and kids in the neighborhood. Funny thing, when I'm out on the deck the squirrels and birds don't eat at the bird feeders... Yesterday a grackle bird kept squawking at me, he wanted to eat, but I wasn't leaving! Please tell Lightning "HI" from me. I miss her and our little guy, Chitwa. Can't wait to see you all again. Retirement is wonderful, but I miss the dogs and you guys too!
Love, Aksel

Dear Mille,
I have an idea that you might be able to use on the trail. I was just out in my dog yard, and at the edge, far from my dog house is water. I was down there chasing geese when I happened upon something I thought might be candy. It smelled sooo good. I was going to eat it, but then I had a better idea. I flopped over and rolled in it! Now I smell like candy!! The only thing is that the rest of my pack went in the dog house. They made me stay out here. I'm not sure why. I know you don't like to eat candy, so maybe the next time you find some YOU could roll in it. I think Paul would like you a lot more if you smelled like candy. He would never make you sleep outside, would he? Spring is fun!
Love,
Teddy the NEH

Dear Mille,
This morning as I was out and about I heard some kids at the bus stop talking about this day being a special poetry day here. The kids thought I just wanted them to pet me, but I was really listening to find out if poetry is a special snack. I like snacks a lot! I'm sad to say I found out poetry is not a snack, but I did find out about Haiku. Here is a Polar Husky Haiku for all of those courageous canines:
Singing at sunrise
Powerful rhythmic movements
Singing at sunset
I'm working on the Norwegian translation for Beacon. Please tell Sable her voice is the sweetest!

Glad to hear that you and Wendy arrived safely and joined the team! Despite U.S. airline woes: American canceled many flights, and Northwest is in merger talks with Delta--still.
Happy sledding. Judy J

Dear Mille,
I am seeing many pictures of Sable. That video of her going to the vet is really nice. I've been telling the poodles down the street about that pretty pooch, and now they think they might try out for the Polar Huskies, too. Tee hee, like Sable would give those boys the time of day even if they did make the team. Thanks for the pictures!
Love,
Teddy the NEH

We heard your message about the high winds. We are anxious to know when Aaron and Wendy will arrive. Today all the 2nd grade classes (8 in Pod 220) put on a wonderful show called "Olympic Hour: Past and Present". We sang and acted out the various games that are played in Ancient Times. We learned about Greece and that the Olympics began there. You will be able to see a DVD of it when you return to the USA. We promise to send it to you and Mille. Now we are very tired because it is the end of our school day and the end of two weeks in the CAC Unit. We had FUN! We hope you are well and happy and again we always think of you and especially all the dogs. We are in the Library and we are looking at the Go North site on a document camera and a computer which projects the images on a gigantic screen. Happy exploration! Your friends at WDMS, Chicago, IL USA Pod 220.

Hello Aaron! I loved what you guys did with the team, especially the dogs. It's really amazing how you actually traveled that far! I especially love the dogs a lot. I heard that
Timber actually scared away several polar bears! It's really amazing how a dog can scare away a massive polar bear! Well i just wanted to say how you did such a great job! Good luck!

We are Ms. Cervantes's Kg Class visiting the WDMS Library. Mrs. Schenk showed us the four dogs she adopted for us and her grandchildren. They are: Ginger, Disko, Hershey and Kodiak. We heard Mille tell us about where you were yesterday. There are 7 other Kg classes. We will graduate from Kg this June 11 and we will graduate from WDMS 8th grade in 2016 when maybe the Olympics will be in our city. Good luck and Happy Day. J. Schenk and children

I learned that you guys yell yip yip to the dogs because.....it's to get the Polar Huskies in sync so to speak! If you have ever watched a crew rowing a boat, an individual called a coxswain stands at the one end of the boat yelling out the rhythm so that each crewmember can stroke at the same time with their fellow rowers. The crew rows the boat as a team with the greatest possible strength

Hi! I'm Alexandria, a student of Ms.Gorton (Teacher Explorer 2008). I just read the trail report and it's really funny how you couldn't those between new shoes. Also how the 3-letter word "Yip" means such a long thing.
