Puppy Pen

Pingo

Of all the puppies in this litter, Pingo was from the get-go the one that acted most like his father Peto. Pingo does not have Peto's markings, or his notorious howl. But Pingo was about as vocal as his Dad Peto right from the moment he was born, and in many funky ways his Dads personality shines through - he tends to follow the others and he is a bit of a goof! Now if he grows up to be as mentally tough and the same great pulling technique as his Dad too, then Pingo will sure pull some serious weight, cause he is one BIG guy.

Pingo has very heavy bones and a heavy built. For that reason more than anything probably, Pingo can come across as a bit of a clumps. However stick around for a bit, and you will soon realize that Pingo steps down for nobody. He might be slow - but he is strong with a huge chest! As he has grown older he has actually become a bit of a bully knowing full well that he is the big guy - with his siblings that is. Pingo is the last one to catch each day on the "puppy walk" because he likes to be in the dog yard meeting his future teammates.

Pingo means hill in Inuktituk the language of the Inuit people. A pingo is a mound of earth-covered ice found in the Arctic, subarctic, and Antarctica that can reach up to 200 feet (70 m) in height and more than a mile  (2 km) in diameter.

The first pingos were described in science by the Danish botanist Erling Porsild in 1938. Erling was a great dog musher traveling all over the Canadian Arctic and he is Mille's great granduncle!
